"Get your little ass back to the penitentiary, motherfucker. You know what you did last time you was here."

Hello there!

For some reason or another it looks like you’ve found my travellog far earlier than it was supposed to become public. Nevertheless, welcome, stranger. It’s been around two months now that I received my final acceptance e-mail to go on exchange to Kansai Gaidai University in Japan for the 2008-2009 school year . For those who already knew that, tough shit, you just wasted a few seconds of your life reading that sentence. Anyway, as a person who generally despises people who have to rant about every petty incident in their lives in a weblog, it was a big step for me to start writing this post but I want the front page not to be completely empty.

The countdown has now begun, 15 days left until I can finally hop on the plane to Osaka; I’m getting the chills already. Communication from the Kansai Gaidai side has been pretty active; I’ve already received housing information (Seminar house 3) as well as the contact information of my speaking partner. Although I tried to handle all the crucial stuff well in advance, some vaccination procedures eventually caught me by surprise. My student visa is ready, flight tickets are waiting to be printed and a Japanese friend from KGU is coming to pick me up at the airport. The last two weeks in Finland will now consist of work, miscellaneous pre-departure organizing and getting drunk, things I will not be writing about if I can help it.

I’m neither a writer nor a photographer, but I’ll do my best to keep this page clean, understandable and updated on a pretty regular basis… that is, starting end of August 2008.
